Piazza Navona (Navona Square)
The famous baroque square is found in the place where used to stand the Stadium of Domitian, an arena similar to the Colosseum. The buildings surrounding this square still have the shape of an antique stadium. Dominating the square is the fountain Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi. The four gods on the corners of the fountain represent the four major rivers of the world known at the time: the Nile, Danube, Ganges, and Plate. In the middle of the fountain is an artificial rock with a cave and an obelisk.
